Constant - Definition and Examples

A constant is a term that has no variable. Since a constant has no variable, the value of the constant will remain fixed or never change.

Examples of constants

1. For the polynomial expression 6a³ + 4a² + a - 8, the constant is -8

2. For the quadratic equation a² + 3a + 2  = 0, the constant is 2

3. For the linear equation 2x - 6 = 9, the constants are  -6 and 9

4. For the circumference formula C = πD, the constant is π = 3.14
