Constant - Definition and Examples

A constant is a term that has no variable. Since a constant has no variable, the value of the constant will remain fixed or never change.

Constants can be found in math equations, mathematical expressions, formulas, ...

Examples of constants

1. For the polynomial expression 6a3 + 4a2 + a - 8, the constant is -8

2. For the quadratic equation a2 + 3a + 2  = 0, the constant is 2

3. For the linear equation 2x - 6 = 9, the constants are  -6 and 9

4. For the circumference formula C = πD, the constant is π = 3.14
